Lewes Downland Santa Fun Run - Sunday 11th December 2022

It was beautiful bright day, blue skies and a bit of frost. Runners had three choices of routes - a 5k, a 10k and a 15k (that 15K run took them all the way along the top of the downs to Ditchling Beacon and back!). All went well, and sure enough the 111 runners in Santa hats turned up along with Father Christmas and the Deputy Mayor of Lewes who began the race. All runners set off and it wasn't long before they started arriving back down the hill safely, happily crossing the finishing line where they were offered chocolates and a silver warmth blanket. We raised almost £800 and have plenty of Santa hats and warm blankets left over, so we are repeating the run in 2023 due to public demand!. Special thanks to our Lewes community groups. We worked closely with Lewes Athletic Club who were very supportive providing equipment and advice and Nevill Bonfire Society built us a enormous sign to help show everyone where the run was. Lewes Operatic Society offered their roadside boards for our marketing and lots of shops and businesses put up our posters and promoted the run. Happily, both the marshals and the runners want to do the same again so, we have a date booked in for Sunday 10th December which should be great fun.
