King Henry's Consort has been in existence for over 40 years and 4 of the 6 members have played together for all that time. We like to play early music on recorders and often play at the Open Air Museum in Singleton.
During the 2020/21 lock downs, two members of the group did a series of short garage concerts, 10-15 minutes long on recorders or flutes. It meant neighbours could meet while being socially distanced, and enjoy nibbles and sometimes a glass of wine. We also raised funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
On December 20th, fortunately a dry evening, all 6 members of the group played for about 25 minutes with a selection of Christmas music. This ranged from 15 century music to 'I'm dreaming of a White Christmas'. The audience sang 6 traditional carols, whilst enjoying some mulled wine. Donations were collected for the Friends of Victoria Hospital, raising just over £80.
