On Sunday May 5th the Friend’s hosted a very successful Charity Dinner Dance at Barcombe Village Hall.
We were lucky to have a glorious sunny evening and on arrival guests were able to enjoy drinks and canapés looking out over the beautiful Sussex countryside. Christine Arbenz and her team served a delicious meal after which everyone was able to enjoy chatting and dancing to music played by the live band Louisiana Lightning.
During the evening we also held a live auction, brilliantly compared by Mike Sandford, and a silent auction, which together raised an incredible £1750 for the hospital. We would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to all the local businesses that so generously donated items to the auction.
Everyone had a very enjoyable evening and in total the event raised £2,272.06 for the hospital.
The new x-ray unit funded by the Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital was officially opened on Monday 23rd April. Gus Christie, Executive Chairman of Glyndebourne performed the opening ceremony watched by representatives of the Friends, the SCFT and former and current staff working in the Imaging Service. Jane Mackenzie-Bennett, Radiology superintendent, gave a short presentation of the new equipment.
Last year the collection tins around Lewes raised approximately £1,500. A great result and thank you to all those who have donated.
The quiz night was enjoyed by over 50 members and their guests and almost £300 was raised for the Friends. With questions on general knowledge, sport, history, food and drink and a picture round, the final winners were ‘Charlies Angels’.
Southdown Tennis is supporting the Friends through 2018. If you are looking to run an event, please think of the Friends as the Charity of your choice.
